I have been asked to confrence with some fellow asgardians in Yemmen to help give hope... can you review my words?
I greet you as brothers, for through asgardia we are all one family...
I am Canadian, but I cannot speak for Canada. I am also Asgardian and I also cannot speak for Asgardia. We are all human, and I cannot speak for all humans. I am but one man, with one mind and one voice. Those tings which unite us, our species, our emotions, our hopes for our children, our planet and our universe, are much much bigger, and cannot be spoken for by one person no matter how much support - for that is what leads to war.
I take the time to speak with you today, and try to give you hope - for you are surrounded by destruction. If I were in your shoes I would feel very hopeless.
The stories of my brother Ahmed has moved me to countless tears, which I no doubt am already shedding in front of you - if not I'm sure will begin soon, and I will likely need pause to speak. I hope you can forgive me for reading, not speaking directly for I fear the words would not come through the tears. I would ask that you note any questions and hold them until I am ready, for my message to you is as important as your messages to me.
I can not even begin to imagine what life is like for you right now. I am a strong man, and do not weep easily, but I have seen war only in movies, and felt the horrors only through word and pictures - which is how I know it is bad. I choose to never make violence, even for my own defense. I do not judge any of you for fighting though, if you do - for I cannot understand what it is like.
My country has not seen war (inside) in almost 200 years, which is why many Canadians fight for peace around the world. Many are proud of our peacekeepers, even if sometimes they might fight for the wrong side. We know their hearts are in the right place and hope they do nothing to give us shame, though we all make mistakes. For those who do not understand, orders are always correct.
I would like to tell you that the United Nations knows of Yemmen and some of the problems they face. They know you face mass famine, they know you have lost well over 10'000 of your family. They know you face genocide, the very thing they were assembled to prevent. They publicly call fro Saudi to open your ports. I know they will send help after they finish deciding how, but I also know it cannot be soon enough - it should have bee over 3 years ago, if not much sooner.
Asgardia will no doubt face the same problem. Even if we were to assemble an army, which I do not believe we should, it would be many many years before we could help, and I think our system will also be one of much talking and less action. Asgardia was founded to lead by example, to show the world they need not fight war just because there are two, or more, beliefs. We hope to find a set of rules which all people can agree are for the common good which will not be easy considering each religion is at the others throat.
Please hear why, when I say: I think religion is the problem. Religion does not unify, it separates one group following one leader from another - it is the direct opposition to Asgardia's founding ideals. Gods do not need humans to speak for them. Let whatever god you believe in speak to your heart, and do not listen to the words of your fellow human on a gods thoughts - for they cannot possibly understand that which is meant for you, and you may not translate well. I hope those words translate my meaning well. I am not Christian, though I was born one, I am not Muslim, though I have learned from the Koran, and I am not Buddhist though I listen to my inner self. I have a religion of one, it is my own, which is as it should be.
Muslim's are told Christians are the problem, Christian's are told Islam is the problem, Buddhist's are told everyone is the problem, and every one has friends who believe Jewish are the problem, even them. I have little knowledge of many of the other religions. Everyone is not the problem, combined, we are the solution. - combined, we are Asgardia.
I wish, from the very bottom of my heart, that I could bring back you lost children, brothers, sisters and parents. I wish that I could go back in time to warn them, and could listen. I wish that the bombs stop falling as I speak for even that is too late. I am but one man, with one voice, as are each of you. But I will use my voice for you and I will use your pain to try to show the world that war is never the solution. If you are the last people to face genocide I would rejoice, not in your death, but in your memory as those who suffered so much that they ended all war - there could be no greater glory.
I would ask that you not fight back, and I know it is easy to ask not knowing your true pain, but I hope you see why. Asgardia cannot support violence, for that would bring great war, perhaps even another world war. Asgardia can share your story, and martyrs are the most powerful of voice - while remembered. I will never forget this day, nor my talks with my dear brother Ahmed. I also know that should the worst happen, Asgardia will never forget the genocide they failed to prevent.
I will now answer what questions I can and thank you for sharing your stories and your time.
